Car Issues

Today I decided to get some loose ends relating to my car taken care of. I drove out to the Tabor-Witkin insurance to get the photos of my car taken, and then I went to Delta Sonic on Maple Rd. to get my car cleaned. I bought the Super Kiss package for $19.99. This involved a car wash, and cleaning of the interior. I wanted the interior cleaned mainly because my car smells like an old dog and mothballs. Sadly, Delta Sonic did not really clean out my interior. They claimed to have vacuumed out the inside, but there is still dog hair everywhere. Furthermore, my car now smells like a dog on a hot date. I think I am going to go to Auto Zone later and buy the value pak of Pine Tree Freshners.

After the Car Wash, I then went to Best Buy, and thought about purchasing a CD player for my new car. Tragically, Best Buy charges more for "necessary" accessories and installation fees than the actual stereo. Needless to say, I nixed that idea.

Odeysseus Returns!

After a two day drive with one very peeved cat, I am now back in B-lo. Seeing as I have so much time on my hands, I have spent most of that time having fun with old friends by working at Dennys :) Its true what they say, after 5 years you're a lifer.

That hasn't been all I've been up to though. I got a new car upon returning (2001 Buick Century) with only 9000 miles on it. It looks awesome (pics will follow at some point), but smells like old dog. Therefore, over the next couple days I will have it cleaned by Delta Sonic. I also think I'm going to get a CD player installed. . .

On Saturday I hung out with Fabulous Freddy Fun Bags. We went to Panos for dinner, and then to Spot Coffee on Elmwood. Its been a while since I've been there, but I stuck with the old favorite, the Orange Spot Slush. Freddie got a Foo Foo drink. . . We then took a nice romantic stroll along Elmwood avenue with our drinks.

Sunday I hung out with Mix Master J in the recording studio, hearing the most recent cut of Hinterland Girl. Good Stuff! I also think I hooked Joe on Arrested Development, the greatest TV show ever! Joe concerns me though, because his sink produces extremely cloudy water. He had no problem drinking it, even though it looked more like skim milk. To my great disturbance, when I arrived home I noticed our sink does the same thing. Guess that means no more water till I get back to MN.

Ok, enough for this disjointed series of memories. I'm out till later.

Lamest night in history

Last night was undoubtedly the lamest night ever. I'm not talking just lame, but Linger Loser Lame! My day began at 12:30 with a return to St. Anthony to go see Episode III for the second time in 3 days. It was Beauregard's idea to go to the early matinee, and I was apprehensive about going to see it again so soon, but it was a pretty good time. After the fact though, we realized we should have waited with the movie till the evening.

After exercising for an hour or so, we then decided to journey over to the Rosedale Mall. LAME central! I got subway and yogurt, and that was it. We had to leave because the mall closed at 8pm. Honestly, what mall in a city the size of Minneapolis closes at 8 on a Saturday Night?!?!

So, realizing it was only 7:30 we decided to go across the street to Best Buy. There was nothing to do there, but at least we killed time, and I belatedly bought the new Weezer CD. Kick Ass!

We returned home and argued for about 20 min. over whether to go to Tracys or the Coffee shop across the street. We opted to get coffee and sit on the balcony for 30 min. or so. We should have gone to Tracys.

Completely bored out of our minds, we decided to bust out my old super nintendo and play Tecmo Super Bowl, but that ended after 15 min. and Chris's utter destruction at the hands of the 1993 Bills. All I have to say is 3 quarters, 5 carries and 120 yards rushing for the Thurminator. Chris gave up after Thurman ripped a 46 yard TD run.

Determined not to spend the night in his apt. we wandered over to Borders for 30 min., but that did little good. We ended up returning back home, and watching the Man in the Iron Mask.. . . I hate Leonardo DiCaprio.

Finally the clock struck midnight, and I we decided we were tired and that it was now respectable to end the night.

Lamest night ever.

Papers Done!

Hooray, all my papers are done! I finished writing my third and final paper early this afternoon in the face of a furious assault by the nefarious Beauregard. Now all I need to do is turn my attention to grading. 50 Military History papers, wuhoo!

36 Degrees!

Weather Twin Cities, Minnesota (55111) Forecast

You can tell I'm procrastinating now. . . It is now 36 degrees here in Minneapolis. How did this hapen? Two days ago it was 65 and sunny! I was wearing shorts! Now I'm at school with short sleeves, and a light jacket, instead of the proper winter attire. Brilliant!

I think this began last night when I came in to do work and wore sandals instead of shoes because I'm getting to the end of the wash cycle and need to preserve the amount of clean socks I have to last me to the weekend.

On a lighter note, the Daily Show did this week in God last night, and Back in Black focused on N. Korea. Ahhh, my two favorite subjects, Religion and wacky dictators. . .

So, I continue to work towards wrapping up the semester here. I have an exam on Dostoevsky Friday, and need to finish up a paper on German Resistance too (currently 7.5 pgs). It doesn't help that my good buddy Beauregard is already done with his work, and has made it his mission to distract me as much as possible.

Funny side note: Yesterday, with his free time, Beauregard decided to drive 30 min. to the south of here to Apple Valley to go to Wal Mart and have his oil changed. Yes, Beauregard, the avowed Marxist, is also infatuated with Wal-Mart, the retail giant that closes stores if employees even so much as think about unionization.

In any event, in the course of writing, and my desire to procrastinate as much as possible, I came upon my old blog.

Ahhh the good old days. . . :)

You know you're jealous!

So, tonight was the big Weezer concert up here in Minneapolis, and the band did not disappoint! They played a wide variety of material (oddly no Malidroit), and the crowd was defnitely rocking. As you can see from my pics, I was pretty close too.

The concert was held at First Ave, a really intimate venue in Downtown Minneapolis made famous in Prince's Purple Rain. I think the smaller venue worked much better for the band than the large amphitheater. Rivers definitely seemed stoked tonight.

That was the wierd thing though. He was really into the show, yet he seemed so detached from what was actually happening. Being so close, I definitely got a much stronger sense of that tonight. When playing guitar, he would be so forceful, yet look so meek on stage. It was really quite a contrast, but I think it also added to the reasons why he is such a great musician. This is a guy who can clearly write incredible songs, and has such an intense, devoted fan base. Yet, he constantly looks so uncomfortable on stage, like he'd rather be reading a book alone. I'm fascinated by Rivers, and this concert only added to that fascination.

Overall though it was just an incredible night. We Are All on Drugs works really well live, and they ended the show with Good Life, my personal favorite. Brian Bell also sang lead on Getchoo, which was a little different.

Rock On! =w=
