This is interesting. While the Bishop (later Cardinal) certainly deserves to be praised for taking the bold steps he did to condemn Euthanasia, he was not the anti-Nazi that many want to make him out to be. Like many religious leaders he was your typical, nationalist German.
For those who have time, and want to read up on him, there's a good book that came out in English a few years ago by Beth Greich-Pollelle (I think thats how you spell her name) entitled Bishop von Galen. That explains things much better.
